Fenders, Steephill Bay IOW

Steephill Bay is a great place on the south coast of the Isle of Wight. This array of fenders, some bright and some fading, caught my eye. Used to prevent craft from crashing together when coming alongside or against docksides, I could help thinking of the defensive attitudes of south coasts against the small boats arriving across the sea.
